Based on a T.C Boyle short story in The New Yorker, The Lie is about a couple of young idealists, Lonnie (Joshua Leonard) and Clover (Jess Weixler), whose lives dramatically change once Clover becomes unexpectedly pregnant. Lonnie is forced to give up his music while Clover enters the corporate world. Wallowing in regret, Lonnie calls in sick to work so he can re-evaluate his life. When he is told he has to show up to work or be fired, Lonnie panics and tells a truly shocking lie, that will change the course of his life forever
