In its 29th year, NFF has grown into one of the country’s premier destination film festivals. The Nantucket Film Festival takes place annually in June on the island of Nantucket, off the coast of Cape Cod, MA, with a year-round office based in New York City.

Festival Assistant

Contract Term:February – July 2025 (21 weeks)

Schedule:Part-time 20 to 25 hrs/wk for 2 weeks in March. Full-time 40 hrs/wk until the close of the contract. Approximately 600 hours. Work hours are 10 AM – 6 PM; in June office hours may vary onsite.

The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) is searching for a hardworking, passionate, and organized Festival Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and have a passion for presenting and cultivating the next generation of storytellers.
As the Festival Assistant, you would work directly with the Festival Manager, the Festival Producer and Executive Director. In the role, you would work to execute the administrative, marketing and communications goals for the 30th Anniversary Festival.
Lastly, this position will be required to travel to Nantucket in June for the annual festival.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with management of the Film Festival offices in NYC and Nantucket; prepare and execute moves from NYC offices to temporary Nantucket offices, and back to NYC after the Film Festival.
- Assist with the internal and external communications for the festival. This includes helping to execute email and social media marketing year-round, communicating with pass holders, whether they purchased or received their passes as gifts, and efficiently transitioning processes to seasonal staff in the spring.
- Execute daily/weekly administrative tasks leading up to the Festival, this includes data entry, customer service correspondence, letter writing, and note-taking.
- Assist in the management of the festival database, website, and POS software(s).
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- At least one year of film festival, marketing, or arts/non-profit administration is a benefit.
- At least one to three years of professional office experience
- Mature, dedicated work ethic
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent office skills
- Thorough knowledge of Mac systems
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of database systems like AirTable is a plus, but not required
Volunteer Coordinator

The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) is searching for a hardworking, passionate, and professional Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, you would play a critical role in recruiting, scheduling, and training all Festival Volunteers for the 2025 Festival. A further list of responsibilities can be found below.
Lastly, this position will be required to travel to Nantucket in June for the annual festival.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain all correspondence with all interested volunteers and past volunteers.
- Coordinate the recruitment and outreach efforts for the Film Festival Volunteer Program.
- Organize the training of volunteers for general service and specific positions. This includes but is not limited to the creation of all training materials and scheduling training sessions/orientations for general service and specific service before the festival.
- Liaise with NFF staff and departments to establish and confirm their volunteer needs pre-, during, and after the Festival.
- Manage and execute the scheduling of all volunteer shifts before, during, and after the Film Festival across all departments.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- Strong organization and communications skill set.
- Experience with staff and/or volunteer management and training is preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities and with varying abilities.
- Knowledge of the Nantucket community is a plus.
- Proficient with database software and Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel)
- The ability to lift 30 lbs
Production Manager

The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) is searching for a hardworking, passionate, and professional Production Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of all production elements for all Festival events, venues, and signature programs. A further list of responsibilities can be found below.

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Festival Producer and the Signature Programs Producer to make sure that all production needs are accounted for, met, and scheduled.
- Coordinate all venue and production schedules and materials before, during, and after the Festival.
- Oversee the Production Coordinator, and any assigned volunteers on all load-ins/outs, schedules, assignments, etc.
- Manage the ordering of all on-site materials including printed signage, office supplies, tech equipment (walkies), beverages, and merchandise.
- Act as the logistics manager for the distribution of all production materials, sponsorship goods, and event goods.
- Oversee and help execute the installation of all venue signage.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- At least 1 to 2 years of film festival experience, specifically in production is preferred.
- Strong organization and communications skill set.
- Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities and with varying abilities.
- Knowledge of the Nantucket community is a plus.
- Proficient with database software and Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel)
- Ability to liaise within large groups.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs

NFF 2025 Week-of Festival Student Program
Want to see how a film festival runs? The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) provides students and recent graduates with a unique opportunity to work alongside industry professionals to witness the execution of a film festival during the festival week. The program will focus on the execution of the 30th Annual Nantucket Film Festival this coming June 25 – 30, 2025. Each student will get the chance to work hand-in-hand with our staff and learn about:
- Festival exhibition
- Sponsorship activation
- Guest relations
- Event production
- Plus, you will have access to see films and attend events during the week, and be included in staff planned gatherings.
The week will start with a virtual orientation the first week of June (exact date and time to be determined) so you can hear more about what’s going on at the festival this year, and what the internship schedule will be like. We ask that students commit to working at least 6 hours a day, schedule allowing.
NFF does not provide housing or transportation to the island. We ask that each student arrive on island by June 23rd and are free to depart after June 30th. If you are available before or after these dates, you are more than welcome to join us and get involved earlier. NFF is also willing to provide records to your university/college for credit if so desired by the student.
