Following the screening of SWEET STÖRY, join us for a conversation about food, sustainability, and island life.
Filmmaker Sarah Kerruish is joined by Maria Aulén Thomsson, a subject in the film and protégé of Meg Ray. Now running Café Truten on Rödlöga, Maria brings a lived, daily connection to the questions at the heart of the film: seasonal baking, small businesses as community anchors, and the delicate balance of sustaining both place and people on an island. Rooted in the film and shaped by those living it, this conversation explores the ways food, craft, and care quietly hold a community together.
The program will include a shared fika moment — a Swedish cultural tradition emphasizing connection with others through a deliberate, recharging communal break — with pastries from Meg Ray’s Miette Patisserie served alongside the conversation.
